In 1972 the Vicky Sigmegiatos Dance Studio was founded in Brooklyn NY, teaching a Russian influenced Balachine technique of ballet. Eventually, in 1980 Vicky Simegiatos Dance Company was formed and took on the extremely ambitious project of staging and performing a full length ballet, The Nutcracker.

For almost 40 years, the Vicky Simegiatos Dance Company have performed The Nutcracker featuring their most prestigious and trained dancers. The Nutcracker play is a classical ballet in two acts, originally based on Hoffmann’s 1816 fairy tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Frequently performed throughout the holiday season, the Vicky Simegiatos Dance Company brought their talent to Staten Island.

Gladly, we had the pleasure of interviewing Vicky Simegiatos, Founder of Vicky Simegiatos Performing Arts Center during one of the custom fittings for the show about their upcoming VSDC Nutcracker performance at the majestic St. George Theatre. Their annual performance has become a community’s favorite part of families Christmas traditions.

Last year, VSDC Nutcracker production had the honor of review by Alastair Macaulay, legendary dance critic of The New York Times. Don’t miss this year’s performance at the Historic St. George Theater on December 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.You will have the rare opportunity of seeing an international ballet star Maria Kowroski, principal dancer from New York City Ballet, perform in this intimate setting. The Nutcracker ballet is fun, fast paced and exciting. You can just sit back and let the magic of the ballet sweep over you.
