It’s time to get back to the Beach and Celebrate! This summer weekend offers an array of fun activities for all ages, all over town. We hope you take some time this weekend to enjoy them:
- Sprinkler Fest
Come and join in the free, fun-in-the sun event “ Sprinkler Fest” for children of all ages, hosted by the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden. “Sprinkler Fest” will feature dozens of open sprinklers for children to run, skip or jump through — providing, of course, that the weather cooperates — and there will also be a dunk tank for downing members of the Snug Harbor staff on the one-acre of South Meadow. Also at the fest free entertainment such as live music, puppeteers and workshops.

Pack a picnic, grab a blanket, and gather up your family for an outdoor showing of ‘Kung Fu Panda 2.’

Tickets: Free - Summer Stage Kids: Central Park Zoo’s Wildlife Theater
Wildlife Theater is a Central Park Zoo-based theater company that inspires audiences to learn—and care—more about our natural world. W.T. performs their special interactive theater programs in the tri-state area for schools, community centers and hospitals.

The second and final “Back to the Beach” weekend of the summer will be held this weekend. A fireworks display is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Saturday, with a raindate of Sunday. Games, rides, vendors, food, and entertainment will be available both days of the celebration.

Trained Urban Park Rangers will lead you on canoe adventures that range from the gentle waters of protected lakes, to the challenging open waters of rivers and bays. During Urban Park Ranger canoe programs, you can go from novice to expert in one just one summer!
This particular program is of basic intensity. It is great for all skill levels, including children 8 years and older.When: Saturday, August 18th, 11AM – 2PM

Mastering any new skill requires practice and patience. Fishing programs help develop these skills while connecting you with nature. Our experienced Rangers teach the ethics of fishing and the ecology of our waterways on every fishing program.

Kayak Staten Island – is an organization providing free kayaking for the public. They provide the use of sit-on-top kayaks, life-jackets and paddles. Offering paddling tips and launch/land assistance. Experienced kayakers are in the water for further assistance.When: Sunday, August 19th, 12PM – 4PM
Location: located on South Beach at the end of the Boardwalk in Parking Lot #1.
Tickets: Free - Zumba at Great Kills Park
