Have some fun this weekend!

Once again the weather promises to be gorgeous for this upcoming weekend. Inspired by the forecast I’ve compiled a list of things to do around town. Enjoy those perfect autumn days before they’re gone and savor the time with your family.

  1. Decker Farm

    Now is the time to pick your own pumpkins at the Decker Farm through the end of October. Pick the perfect pumpkins for Halloween decorations or for making that sweet pumpkin pie. Also available is the farm stand offering seasonal fresh farm produce.

  2. Staten Island Mall Greenmarket

    Eating healthy starts with fresh produce. The Greenmarket at the Saten Island Mall is a great spot for all your healthy food shopping needs and it’s a wonderful way to support the local farmers. Read about my visit to the market and get some tips.

  3. Alice Austen House Museum

    Enjoy a free walking tour of Alice Austen House Museum as part of the 9th Annual OHNY celebration. Explore the museum and get a peek into Alice’s darkroom which is normally not available to the public. The museum will also be playing rare Alice Austen’s home movies from the 1930’s.

  4. Pooch Parade and Howl-Ween fun at Wolfe’s Pond Park

    If you have a special pup in your life, take them to the Pooch parade and Howl-Ween fun at Wolfe’s Pond Park. Do you have a spooky costume for your buddy? Dress them up for a chance to win a prize!

    When: October 15th, Sat. 12PM – 3PM

  5. Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

    Join the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and celebrate life. Help save lives by helping people get well, stay well, find cures and fight back.

    When: October 16th, Sun. Registration begins at 9AM
    Location: Clove Lakes Park, Admin Bldg at 1150 Clove Rd

  6. Festa Italiana

    Festa Italiana celebrates Italian traditions and is going to take place at the magnificent Casa Belvedere. The family friendly event will feature meatball eating contest, wine tasting, traditional foods, carnival games and crafts, slides for the kids, along with the “World’s Largest Sing-Along” of “That’s Amore”.

    When: October 15th, Sat, from 11AM – 6PM and October 16th, Sun, from 11AM – 5PM
    Location: 79 Howard Ave
    Tickets: $10 for adults. $5 for children. No charge for kids 5 and under.

  7. It’s My Park Day

    On It’s My Park Day, give a little back to your favorite park. Click on the link to find out how you can get involved and help your local park and playgrounds. Celebrate your community and engage your kids in charitable events to teach them the value of caring.

  8. Italian Harvest Festival

    Explore the sights, sounds and flavors of Italy at Snug Harbor Cultural Center. Witness a special performance by Steve Augeri, former lead singer of Journey, along with the famous PS 22 Chorus. Also enjoy food tasting, Venetian carnival mask face painting, wine-making demonstrations and more.

    When: October 15th, Sat. 12PM – 6PM
    Location: Snug Harbor Cultural Center at 1000 Richmond Terrace
    Tickets: $8 for adults. $6 for seniors and children. No charge for kids 5 and under.
